ARRIVAL.
๐ ๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐ you moved under your own power. The shadows that dwelt in the corners of your vision vanished, the world is bright and the shackles of destiny fall from your liberated limbs.
You're free.
But before you can take that next step, before you can alter your fate, a terrible howling fills your ears. It's an ill wind full of malice, one that rips you off of your feet and back, back, back from this chance to seize your destiny. The shadows coalesce into a single entity, its hands locking around your throat. It cannot let this stand.
You think that maybe this is the end. The world goes dark as it rushes past you, this is the end.
Except you wake to the feeling of rain on your skin.
The cliffs around you bare the scars of a fierce battle. Before you, a massive city faces the sea. Behind you, greenery sprawls for miles. Midgar has never looked so beautiful, but it has also never looked so unlike itself. The Sister Ray points proudly towards the sea. A bustling city crawls out from its shadow, looking wealthier and more robust than the slums ever did. You don't have long to ponder this.
Because you aren't alone. Others are coming to, looking just as confused and uncertain as you do. Some are battleworn and bloody, as if they were pulled from a fierce battle. Others appear to be in perfect health, as if they were simply pulled from a long slumber, though no less confused and lost. The howling that filled your slowly begins to fade, and as it does, the rain begins to clear.
๐๐๐๐๐๐ is within a few hours walking distance. ๐๐๐๐ lies not much further in the opposite direction. There is no presence urging you to walk to one or the other, no voice from on high telling you what path your feet should walk. Underneath this infinite blue sky the choice to go - or to stay - is entirely yours.
๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐?

Has it? [Angeal answers with a tinge of unmistakeable worry in his tone.] It must be...since...
[He takes a moment to clear his thoughts as he tries to make sense of this. There are too many unknowns at work here. Angeal feels as if he's slowly going mad. Something about being this close to Sephiroth makes his skin crawl.]
What's going on? Why are am I here?
[He pauses briefly as he stares at Sephiroth for answers.]
Why are you here?
[Angeal asks as he inches a little closer to get a better look at him.]
Are you the same man I once knew?

That person looks at Angeal with a much colder gaze.
Still there is a part that almost reaches out to touch him and see if he's real. And not an illusion like the ones which plagued Cloud over the years.
He doesn't though, but ... there is some slight hesitation before he speaks even if his general expression is filled same over-confidence Angeal might remember from the past.]
No. The man you remember was lost to lies and deceit. Eyes opened by the truth and born again as something new.

[It didn't take long for Angeal to understand what Sephiroth meant by that since he too was lost. When the truth was unveiled, the first person Angeal turned to was his mother. He sought out her wisdom and comfort only to find her dead shortly after he returned home. The shock of her death left him reeling. It was part of her punishment for participating in this awful experiment but also marked the beginning of the end for him. Angeal scarcely had time to recover when Zack suddenly appeared. That very moment etched itself deep with Angeal's psyche much like the truth of his origins. To think that Sephiroth endured something the same makes his heart constrict painfully.]
Don't let the same despair that consumed me consume you!
[He shouts as he reaches to grab Sephiroth by his shoulders. His fingers grasping onto the leather pauldrons with great force.]
Where is your honor?
[It's at that moment that Angeal does something unprecedented that might shock even Sephiroth. He yanks Sephiroth towards him and brings him into a tight embrace.]
Don't let the monsters that created us change you in turn.
sephiroth just BSOD
But that person is gone.
What's left just hovers in the air, still and un-moving. His mind still processing what is exactly happening. When he finally collects his thoughts, he slips a hand between them to push Angeal away.]
A foolish action, Angeal. I would not recommend repeating it. You have been dead a long time and there is nothing left to hear your plead.
[That in itself is a warning. Perhaps because Sephiroth is still trying to get over the shock. Perhaps because at one point they were friends.]

If there was nothing left within you, then why haven't you made good on your threat?
[ He asks sternly with a disapproving frown. ]
No matter what you say, I know you're still in there.

Am I? You don't know who I am anymore. What you remember ... was an illusion forged by lies. Do you know what I have done? How far I've come?
[Or rather fallen]
Would you still say the same knowing I intended to destroy all life on the planet?
